Hello Cole students and families! We have a lot of exciting things happening in the library in the weeks leading up to February vacation. Here are some highlights.
- Many 4th and 5th graders are continuing on their MCBA (Massachusetts Children's Book Award) experience by reading the 2015 nominees. So far 355 books have been read! That is almost caught up to our year-end total of 366 for last year. Keep reading!
- Before the holiday break, Cole School participated in its first ever Hour of Code, joining millions of students across the country in taking their first lessons in writing computer code! When you learn how to code, you also learn about problem solving, creative thinking, and logic. Try it at home at www.code.org.
- Some 4th and 5th grade students have also begun a new project online: Cole School Book Groupies. We have started a site with multiple blogs highlighting our favorite authors and series books. By blogging and commenting together we are recommending books to our friends, as well as learning about communicating constructively online, digital literacy, copyright and plagiarism, and publishing. Check it out at http://coleschoolbookgroupies.weebly.com. Comments are moderated by Mrs. McGarry, so they appear as they are approved.
