The Newbery, Caldecott and other medals awarded by the Association for Library Service to Children (a division of the Americal Library Association) were given out early Monday morning. Here are the Geisel, Caldecott and Newbery winners. Newbery Medal Last Stop on Market Street, by -- for the first time ever, a picture book has won the Newbery Medal for the most distinguished contribution to children's literature. This book also won a silver medal in the Caldecott. Caldecott Medal Finding Winnie, by Lindsay Mattick and illustrated by Sophie Blackall, tells the true story behind "Winnie the Pooh." Theodor Seuss Geisel Medal Don't Throw it to Mo, by David A. Adler, tells the story of Mo, who is the littlest football player on his team (and who other teams make fun of), but this time his size will help them win the game! |
